Christ was upon the cross bleeding, dying. Looking down on the people betraying Him, forsaking Him, denying Him, and in the greatest act of love in the history of universe, He STAYED; and did not only did He stay, He held on to us.
-Charles Spurgeon.
When the people mocking Jesus on the cross told Him to come down from the cross so they might believe that He was the Son of God, many people have said that if He had come down, they would have just crucified Him again. But what if He had come down and immediately gone back to Heaven because He saw the depth of people's hatred for Him in that moment and decided we weren't worth it. So the fact that He STAYED on that cross proves that He knew His suffering would be worth it. Many people would give their lives to Him, so His sacrifice wouldn't be in vain.
